Ruth Rodriguez
Ruth Rodriguez is one of the founders of and helped build Gonzalez Rolon Valdespino & Rodriguez into a premier boutique international trade law firm known worldwide. The Firm has offices in Dallas, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., México City, México, Såo Paulo, Brazil, and Paris, France.
Ms. Rodriguez’s practice includes import and export laws, including NAFTA and all other trade agreements. She received her J.D. from The University of Michigan School of Law in 1988 (where she was a Juan Tienda Scholar), her M.P.A. from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs in 1987 (where she was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow), and her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1984 (where she personally financed 99% of college education). She studied at Harvard University’s J.F. Kennedy School of Government in the summer of 1984 and at the Lyndon B. Johnson School at The University of Texas at Austin in the summer of 1983. During both summers she was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.
She was a Chairperson of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Banking Law Committee from 1992-93. Ms. Rodriguez was the Treasurer of the Organization of Women in International Trade of Dallas/Fort Worth from 1996 to 2002 and Vice President of Membership in 2003. She is currently serving a third year as a member of the Board of Directors of Jane’s Due Process. She passed the October 2006 customs broker exam and is one of the Firm’s Customs Broker Exam Course instructors. Ms. Rodriguez is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of International Trade.
Before founding Gonzalez Rolon Valdespino & Rodriguez, from 1989 to 1992, she was an attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where she was in charge of international litigation for the then-largest failed bank in the country.
