In 1992, Catherine (Cathy) J. Petersen founded C J Petersen & Associates, LLC, a research, training and consulting firm located in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.
Ms. Petersen is a sought after speaker and instructor both here and abroad. She has designed export documentation and procedure manuals for firms of all sizes, including several Fortune 500 companies. She has authored or co-authored five highly regarded books used by businesses, technical institutes and universities covering Incoterms®, logistics, supply chain, and documentation. Ms. Petersen has had day-to-day practical experience at freight forwarding firms, a trading company, and an ocean carrier and has been active in international business since 1980. Her background led her to develop C J Petersen & Associates, LLC, which is a collaborative consultancy that works with clients to identify their unique business needs and find innovative and efficient solutions. She specializes in finding import and export compliance gaps, allowing her clients to avoid costly financial penalties and unwanted publicity.
Planning and meeting facilitation remain at the core of this business. For the past 20 years, C J Petersen & Associates, LLC has either led or worked as a sub-consultant on many public projects. This work engages the public and private sector in a dialogue through focus groups or small group discussions.
She holds both graduate and undergraduate degrees in regional planning from Mankato State University, Minnesota, and is a Licensed Customs Broker.
