Reynolds Wrap Faces Lawsuit Over ‘Made in USA’ Claims

The maker of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that it misled consumers by falsely advertising its product as “Made in USA,” according to a ruling by U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter in Manhattan.

The lawsuit claims that Reynolds Consumer Products violated New York state consumer protection laws by using deceptive packaging, as much of the bauxite and aluminum used in Reynolds Wrap is sourced from outside the United States.

The plaintiff, Anaya Washington, argued that she was willing to pay more for the product based on the “Made in USA” label, and would not have purchased it had she known the true origin of the materials.

The complaint seeks at least $5 million in damages. Reynolds’ request to dismiss the case was declined. This lawsuit highlights ongoing concerns over product labeling and consumer trust.
