Day 1: Starting the Engine – Automotive Classification

  • Focus on foundational principles of automotive tariff classification
  • Discussions on distinguishing between parts and accessories
  • Strategies to avoid common misclassifications and related compliance risks

Day 2: Picking Up Speed – Advanced Classification & EV Components

  • A look at complex classification issues including multi-use parts and assemblies
  • Sessions on classifying EV components alongside traditional auto parts
  • Practical insights into handling borderline cases and understanding CBP rulings

Day 3: The Final Lap – Trade Remedies, Antidumping & Section 232 Tariffs

  • Overview of antidumping duties (ADD) and countervailing duties (CVD) as they apply to auto parts
  • Examination of Section 232 tariffs and their broader implications on imports of steel, aluminum, and automobiles
  • Development of compliance strategies to mitigate financial and regulatory risks, with an introductory session on USMCA implications
