In a collaborative effort to address the evolving needs of the supply chain industry, major players including Prologis, Johnson Controls, Sierra Northern Rail Company, labor unions, and port terminal owners have joined forces to advocate for a new approach to freight legislation. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain segments operated in relative isolation. Steven Hussain, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at Prologis and Chair of the council, emphasized the need for a holistic policy framework that considers the interconnectivity of the supply chain. He highlighted the recent CrowdStrike IT outage as a prime example of how disruptions in one segment can have ripple effects throughout the supply chain, underscoring the necessity of building redundancy and fostering data sharing among stakeholders.
Josh Wood, CEO of the Supply Chain Council, stressed the importance of real-time data sharing and redundancy to enhance supply chain resiliency. He emphasized that secure and timely data collection is essential to mitigate potential disruptions and ensure operational continuity.
